What We’re Hoping to Learn About Lasting Power of Attorney at London Tech Week 2025
09th June 2025

We’ll be heading to London Tech Week 2025 from Monday 9th to Wednesday 11th June. While the event is packed with incredible innovations in AI, fintech, and digital health, we’ve got a very specific mission in mind: understanding how technology can better support people setting up a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA).
Because let’s be honest — the LPA process isn’t always as simple as it should be. And yet, it’s one of the most important legal documents anyone can put in place. It ensures your wishes are respected and your loved ones are empowered to help you if life takes an unexpected turn. So why does it still feel so outdated?
What we’re hoping to explore at Tech Week
I’ll be on the lookout for clever ways the LPA journey can be made faster, safer, and more accessible for people at every stage of life — not just those already facing health issues. I’m especially interested in how we can combine tech and empathy. After all, this isn’t just about automation. It’s about helping real people prepare for tough moments, with clarity and peace of mind.
We’ll be dropping in on talks about legal tech, digital trust and the future of ageing. We’re also excited to meet startups and innovators who are already rethinking how we engage with later-life planning tools. We’re particularly curious about:
- How we can use AI to simplify complex forms without losing the human touch.
- What digital signatures and verification mean for legal documents like LPAs — especially as more of the process moves online.
- Where people need the most support when navigating these decisions — and how technology can gently step in to guide them.
I’m also keen to speak with other founders and service designers who are thinking about real-life accessibility. Can we do more for people who aren’t digitally confident? What does inclusive, jargon-free legal tech really look like? How do we build in both security and simplicity?
Because while tech is racing ahead, the LPA space still has some catching up to do and can generally do better. That’s what led us to create Power of Attorney Online in the first place: a more affordable, guided alternative to the traditional solicitor route, with the same expert care and clarity. But there’s still more we can learn, improve and innovate on.
So if you’re at London Tech Week and you’re building something in the legal, health or future-of-ageing space, please say hello. Let’s chat about how we can make future planning less overwhelming and more empowering for everyone.
See you there.
